ABOUT LENA

Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Lena Moross is a contemporary artist whose work bridges the emotional and the intellectual—an exploration of memory, perception, and the quiet tensions of being human.

A graduate of the State Academy of Art in St. Petersburg, Moross continued her education in the United States at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, studying under celebrated artist Peter Liashkov, and later earned her Master of Fine Arts at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where she studied with conceptual art pioneers John Baldessari and Jonathan Borofsky.

ARTISTIC VISION

Over the past three decades, Moross has exhibited across the United States, with solo and group exhibitions in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Long Beach, Redondo Beach, and Santa Ana. Her work has been featured at institutions and galleries including LA Tate Gallery, Gallery 825, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, bG Gallery Santa Monica, and The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles.

Moross’s visual language reflects her classical European training and her immersion in California’s conceptual art movement, resulting in a body of work that feels both timeless and distinctly modern. She lives and works in Los Angeles, California, continuing to expand her reach through collaborations and international exhibitions.

“Lena’s latest solo show at Spacehouse was nothing short of extraordinary. Her ability to weave emotion, concept, and technique into a unified experience demonstrates why she is one of the most exciting artists working today.”

Peter Frank, Art Critic, Curator, Poet, Former Senior Curator at Riverside Art Museum

“Lena’s technical brilliance is remarkable. Her art is as intellectually engaging as it is visually stunning, and her voice in the contemporary art scene is powerful and distinct.”

Edward Goldman, Host of KCRW’s Art Talk, Arts & Culture Editor, Critic and Curator
